My favourite thing to bake is apple pie, so i’m here to share you my recipe! Enjoy! 🙂
Dough:
- 200g sugar
- 250g butter (@room temperature)
- 400g flour
- 3 tsp baking powder
- 1 tsp salt
- 8g vanilla sugar
- 1 egg
- Bread crumbs
Filling:
- 11 sturdy apples
- 3tsp cinnamon
- 75g raisins
- 1tsp lemon juice
Coating:
- 1 egg
Method:
- Get the eggs and butter at room temperature
- In a mixer mix the butter until soft and mixed
- Then, add the sugar and make sure it is completely incorporated
- Add one egg and beat again briefly
- In a separate bowl, sift the flour, baking powder and salt together
- Slowly add the flour to the butter mixture until you start to get a heavier dough
- Change the paddle to a hook one for dough
- Add the vanilla sugar and mix again for a little bit.
- Take the dough out of the mix and put it in clear film and place in the fridge for 15-30 minutes.
- In the meantime, line a tray with butter and flour
- Peel and cut the apples into slices into a new bowl
- Then, add the cinnamon and stir, make sure all of the apples are coated in it,
- Finally add the raisins and stir again
- Pre-heat the oven to 180˚C
- After the dough has stiffened a bit spread some flour on your kitchen counter and using a rolling pin, use half of the dough for the bottom layer and the sides
- Make sure that it isn’t too thin
- Add bread crumbs to the bottom so that the juice from the apples don’t seep through and make your dough soggy,
- Then, add the apples and cinnamon
- Finally, roll the last pieces of the dough and place these on top of the apples
- Whisk the last egg and brush it on top of the dough so that it does not burn in the oven
- Then, place the pie in the oven for 90 minutes
- Let it cool and then enjoy!
